Three Festivals You Won’t Want to Miss this Fall

September 15, 2015

There’s no better way to say goodbye to summer than with the start of crisp, autumn breezes and suddenly orange-hued sunsets. Just when we thought we couldn’t do any better than the bright, white heat of summer, nature goes ahead and gives us a colorful and cool fall (yes!) to run outside and play in.

Fall brings with it so many reasons to celebrate, from cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice to oyster season and the return of fall festivals. Autumn festivals are some of our favorites, giving us the perfect excuse to bundle up and head outdoors with our loved ones for live music, contests, games and local fare. In Currituck County, we’ve mastered the art of the festival, and learned to perfectly merge our beautiful, natural landscape with popular live music acts and seasonal fruits from the land and sea.

In September, October and November, journey to our mainland for three festivals designed to celebrate the best of the fall season in Currituck, OBX. From phenomenal live music acts to all you can eat steamed oysters and wine samplings, we have a festival fit for every member of your family. Mark your calendars and save the dates for three festivals we know you won’t want to miss this fall…

  1.  Heritage Festival. Saturday, September 19th, grab the ones you love and head out to the Currituck County Rural Center for Currituck Heritage, Surf and Turf Edition. From 11am-5pm enjoy a variety of food favorites from the land and sea served by some of our favorite local food vendors. Contests, live music and prizes abounding mean your entire family will go home happy.
  2. Mustang Music Festival. Kicking off on October 9 and ending October 10, this two day, live music event is a crowd favorite with its incredible music lineup. Featuring bands like Rusted Root, Keller Williams, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and more, you won’t want to wait to get tickets to this incredible event hosted on the grounds of the Whalehead Club.
  3. The Big Curri-Shuck. Head to Sanctuary Vineyards on November 29 from 12-5 pm for a celebration of oyster season like you’ve never seen before. Expect all you can eat steamed oysters, wine samplings, local BBQ and crabs and live music. Tickets, tickets, tickets (do it now).
