A Slice of Sweet

Spring in Currituck County marks the re-opening of the farm markets along Route 168 for the season. These stands, popular with locals and visitors alike, offer a variety of fresh produce and home-baked sweet treats. Some sell whole pies and by the slice in different flavors. Opening dates and hours of operation vary according to each business, so be sure to check sites and social media as you plan your visit:

Bring Home a Taste of Currituck

When you visit the Currituck Outer Banks Visitor’s Center in Moyock, you’ll find copies of A Taste of Old & New, a collection of stories and recipes from the Historic Jarvisburg Colored School Association. Though the museum is currently closed for renovations, proceeds from cookbook sales benefit the continued maintenance of this important landmark in our community’s African-American history. Pick up a copy during your visit and see which pie recipe tempts your appetite!
