Cycling

Both leisure riders and serious cyclists will appreciate the scenic, wide paths on Hwy. 12 leading into Corolla. The path follows the winds and turns of the ocean highway passing numerous must see attractions along the way. First, stop by the Visitor’s Center for maps and pertinent information about the area including beach accesses and attractions. Then, stop by the first beach access where you’ll find nice facilities and access to the beach. You’ll want to continue about seven miles to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. Climb to the top or just visit the grounds for a great photo. Have a picnic by the Currituck Sound on the grounds of Currituck Heritage Park. Then, wind through the dirt paths of the historic Corolla Village or take the Corolla Greenway around to the Estuarine Sanctuary… you never know, you may even catch a glimpse of a wild Spanish Mustang.

Enjoy a leisurely, fun-filled day of sightseeing with your loved ones. If you’re on vacation and would like to rent bikes for an afternoon or for the week, there are many rental companies that have bikes for your whole family! Ask an associate at the Visitor’s Center for information on bike paths and rental companies. Cycling is a great way to explore the area!
