JOB DESCRIPTION:
Works with visitors at the Whalehead, Maritime Museum, Corolla Visitor Center and Wildlife
Resource Center locations. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Acts as a Tour Guide for
all locations. Provides tourism event support. Answers questions and provides brochures and other informational
materials. Assists in keeping the centers well maintained and clean. Uses office equipment to include copier,
computer, fax, and phones. Performs other duties as assigned by the Site Manager/Curator, Visitor Relations
Specialist and Tourism Director.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment, including computers, typewriters, copiers,
calculators, facsimile machines, cameras, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Requires the ability
to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible
amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Physical demand requirements are in
excess of those for sedentary work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. However,
if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker
sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation
from high school and at least two years work experience in customer which provides the required knowledge, skills and
abilities. Prefer applicants with experience at a visitors’ center, government agency, marketing firm, or other tourism-related industry.

SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT:
Valid North Carolina driver’s license. Employment drug test, driver’s history screen
and criminal background check required of finalist applicant(s).
