Currituck OBX Spotlight – The Island Bookstore

February 27, 2012
One of the best things about spending the day at Currituck’s gorgeous beaches is the opportunity to relax and kick back with a good book. Yes, lately we’re seeing more people toting gadgets that download eBooks, but there’s something about lounging in a beach chair and leisurely flipping pages while the surf roars in the distance. Now, we aren’t literary Luddites – after all, we were one of the first people to bring you the Outer Banks in convenient mobile app format! – but we do know that taking a physical book to the beach is good because A) there’s no screen glare from the sun, and B) you don’t have to worry about sand or sea water getting into your gadgets. Next time you’re here and need to add a book to your beach bag, you have to stop by The Island Bookstore in Corolla.

You’ll find a variety of genres to read at one of the best independent bookstores along the North Carolina coast. Satisfy your reading jones for romance, mystery, adventure, and history, and read up on the history of the Outer Banks and surrounding areas with their unrivaled inventory of local interest books. Grab a couple of postcards to send home while you’re there, and keep an eye out for reading and signing events.

Still plan to bring your digital reader to the OBX? No worries, because the Island Bookstore is partnered with Google eBooks so you can shop online through them before you head to the beach! But stop by the shop anyway – you never know what kind of great books you’ll find.
