Currituck OBX Spotlight – The Bait Barn

April 2, 2012
Give a man a fish, and he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime…or else spend many hours hoping to get a bite. If you’re looking forward to a relaxing weekend or lengthier vacation spent fishing, we have some good news for you. Not only do the Northern Outer Banks provide some excellent fishing spots, but one of the newest businesses in town is fast becoming quite popular. The Bait Barn in Shawboro is your one-stop shop for fishing supplies.

Owned and operated by military veteran David Jackson, the Bait Shop offers everything you need to enjoy a day on the water. Forget your pole or need new tackle? Do you prefer live bait over jelly worms? Try the Bait Barn before you head out into the water.

If you’re familiar with the waters off Currituck Sound and deeper into the ocean, you’ll know that you  may find a variety of fish – bluefish, speckled trout, spot, puppy drum, and perhaps a small shark or two. Just keep an eye on the weather and bring plenty of water and sunscreen if you plan to stay out most of the day.
