Currituck OBX Spotlight – BJ's Carolina Cafe

March 19, 2012
North Carolina is known for many things – the mountains in the west and beaches on the eastern side. When you think about food in NC, probably the first word that comes to mind is barbecue. People, quite literally, go “whole hog” over Eastern Carolina BBQ – delicious chopped pork with all the fixings. If you have a craving for home-cooked BBQ and other Southern delights while enjoying your Outer Banks vacation, we suggest a stop at BJ’s Carolina Cafe.

BJ’s hours will vary according to the season – right now they are open for lunch select days of the week.  You’ll want to call ahead for now to find out when they are serving, but once the season begins you can enjoy them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. BJ’s also offers off-site catering by Wanda, the Paula Deen of the Outer Banks. BJ’s and “Paula” offer a grand menu of fresh seafood, pork BBQ, crab cakes, and delightful desserts.

Check out their Facebook page for an amazing photo gallery of food. We especially adore the beautiful wedding cakes (of course, beach weddings are very popular here), and that crisp fried chicken. We may just have to call and see if we can get some to go.
