Valentine’s Day in Currituck Outer Banks

Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly, and it’s time to plan how you’re going to show your love to that special someone. Skip the chocolates and overpriced jewelry this year and give your Valentine something truly memorable: a trip to the Currituck Outer Banks.

Want to treat your sweetie to a getaway? Find a beach rental for two, book a stay at a bed and breakfast, or stay in one of our unique local hotels or inns and give the gift of not having to make the bed. If you can’t take a vacation just yet, take your sweetheart out to dinner and reveal the gift of planning and booking a vacation together. But don’t feel like you have to wait until summer – there are some incredible deals and promotions in the spring, and you’ll have the beach to yourself if you visit before the height of the summer season.

If you’re planning to pop the question this Valentine’s Day, consider booking a one-bedroom cottage, getting a couples massage at one of our local spas, and going out on a wild horse tour together. The backdrop of a beautifully secluded beach with wild horses will result in an unforgettable beach proposal. Already engaged? Plan a beach wedding where the entire wedding party can stay in a single rental home in the off-road areas of Corolla and Carova. Oceanfront properties with luxurious amenities and wild horses grazing outside the front door will make for an unforgettable beach wedding.

Maybe you’ve been married for a while and have kids to consider – maybe a romantic getaway seems impossible. Many couples find it difficult to keep the romance alive after they have kids, but a vacation may be just what you need. Use Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to commit to spending more time

together, and start by planning a vacation as a team. Schedule it around the kids’ spring break at school and bring them with you. Get the extended family involved, and you’ll have an army of babysitters at the ready while the two of you take an afternoon off to walk on the beach, have a romantic lunch, or enjoy one of the many Currituck County attractions. Many rental companies offer great discounts in the spring, making a spring break trip a very budget-friendly option.

Chocolates go stale; jewelry can tarnish. But shared experiences and good memories last forever. Give the gift of time spent together this Valentine’s Day, and visit Currituck.

Carova Beach Outer Banks Rated #1 In Coastal Living “Daily Catch” Readers Poll

Currituck County, NC – Tucked away on a vast secluded beach where the deep rooted wild Spanish Mustangs roam, Carova beach is one of North Carolina’s flawless, hidden treasures.  The February 2014 issue of Coastal Living magazine names the Northern Outer Banks beaches was the Reader’s Choice for favorite beach by the readers of the Daily Catch Online Poll.

Twenty beaches were selected by editors of Coastal Living magazine to compete for the number one spot.  Coastal Living readers were able to vote for their favorite beach.  Carova was in good company with beaches competing as far away as Kaanapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii to Siasconset Beach, Nantucket.  The list of choices also included Coronado Beach, San Diego, CA and Smathers Beach, Key West, FL.  Carova beach in the Currituck Outer Banks came out on top.

Carova’s pristine beaches span eleven miles in the most northeastern tip of North Carolina. The area is rich in nature with its high dunes, sea grasses and multitudes of species living in serenity on the land.  Spectacular sunsets, as well as sunrises, can be seen in Carova as the land spans from ocean to sound.  This area is both picturesque and unique as it is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles.  Celebrated for its secluded, wide beaches, it is where the most renowned locals are the beautiful, four-legged creatures that roam freely and live off the land, the wild Spanish mustangs.

With 10 issues published each year and a circulation of 650,000 magazines, Coastal Living introduces readers to homes, destinations, activities and people along the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf shores of North America, Hawaii, Alaska, coastal Canada and Mexico, as well as the multi-national Caribbean islands and U.S. Great Lakes, are included in the scope.  The magazine celebrates the beauty of amazing coastal towns and is filled with interesting pictures, articles and trends.  Also, be sure to check out the Coastal Living Daily Catch blog at www.coastalliving.com/favoritebeaches.

The Currituck Club – Set On North Carolina’s Outer Banks – is Rees Jones’ Seaside Stunner

COROLLA, N.C. — Corolla, on the top end of the Outer Banks barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina, is not only home to the famous wild mustangs that freely roam the beaches and dunes but also the site of The Currituck Club, a stunning Rees Jones-designed golf course.

Opening in 1996, it stretches nearly 7,000 yards along the coast with high sand dunes, wetlands, 55 bunkers and a wide-open feeling despite groves of maritime trees.
