Restored in 1992 to its original glory, the Whalehead is open for tours. Inside, you’ll see Mrs. Knight’s Steinway piano and petite Art Nouveau “grandmother” clock, as well as many elite-at-the-time amenities including original Tiffany glass sconces, corduroy walls, cork flooring, Otis elevator and a a cast-iron safe within an ornate, marble-topped sideboard. Please note, there are no refunds on specialty guided tours.

Candlelight Tours

Starting October 2nd, the Candlelight Christmas Tour tickets will be going on sale in person at Whalehead or over the phone at 252-453-9040.

The 2023 Whalehead Candlelight Christmas Tour dates are Nov. 24 & 25 and Dec. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16th.  The cost of the tour is $20 and the start time is 5:00.  Due to the popularity of this tour, advanced reservations are required.  Please call 252-453-9040 to reserve your spot.  Tours are non-refundable.  Starting October 2nd, 2023 Candlelight Christmas Tour tickets will be going on sale in person at Whalehead or over the phone at 252-453-9040.

Legends, Lore and Ghost Tours

Ghost Tours are currently Not Available Until the 2024 Season

Legends, Lore and Ghost Tours are held Wednesdays at 7 pm.   The dates for the 2023 season are:  June 14 & 28; July 5, 12, 19, & 26 and, August 2, 9, 16, & 23.   The cost is $15.00 per person and there are no refunds. Space is limited and advance reservations are recommended. Tours are complete in about an hour and are not recommended for children under 10.
