Almost all of the stores in Currituck County are locally owned and operated, and it seems to make the shopping experience a little more personal and just a little bit friendlier.  Yet that personal touch comes with a sophisticated eye. This is also a place of fashion and style, where the most recent look in clothing, footwear and design fills the stores.

One of the most unique shopping experiences on the Outer Banks is found at Historic Corolla Village. Stately live oak trees line narrow streets and unpaved roads. Homes dating from the late 19th to early 20th century are now shops and businesses supplying everything from books to barbecue to the latest fashion.

Mainland Currituck County seems like a place from a time gone by--produce stands dot the highways selling fresh fruits and vegetable from local farms. There are antique stores, stores specializing in collectibles and the eclectic, a German sausage maker who has one international awards and a German brew master--there are even three wineries producing everything from a desert wine made from the local muscadine grapes to wines produced from the classic grapes of the world.
