With almost 100 restaurants in Currituck County, there is sure to be something to satisfy every taste. Gourmet restaurants abound--classically trained chefs create some of the most innovative and delicious meals to be found anywhere--creating art from the simple act of eating.

If you are looking for something truly unique to this area, try our northeastern North Carolina barbecue. A very simple recipe, this may have been the first barbecue created. Slow smoked pork, vinegar, red pepper and salt are the basic ingredients. The meat is succulent, juicy and just a little spicy.
Seafood is always in season, although the “catch of the day” will vary depending on what the local fishermen are catching. Fresh tuna, flounder and rockfish are wonderful, but other varieties often grace local tables, and if you have never had freshly caught wahoo, mahi mahi or puppy drum, you owe it to yourself to try some.
Sandwich shops also line the highways, many of them baking their own breads and pastries daily. And don’t forget the coffee shops and old fashioned ice cream parlors that seem to always have the perfect ingredients for extra energy or a sweet tooth.

Especially on the mainland, a number of establishments have docks available for boaters--offering their diners a different way to spend a day or evening enjoying the beauty of northeastern North Carolina.
