Plan the Perfect Outer Banks Vacation

vacation currituck outer banks
Keeping family members entertained won’t be a problem when vacationing in Currituck on the Outer Banks. A bevy of attractions, tours, and outdoor activities– along with miles of stunning sand and surf – provide something for everyone, young and old.

Outdoor lovers can explore pristine marshes and secluded waters during kayak eco-tours in the Pine Island Audubon Sanctuary. Those who crave outdoor action and adventure can zip across the Currituck Sound on a jet ski or soar high into the sky while parasailing.

Golfers in the family can hit the green at one of the local golf courses or teach the little ones how to get a hole-in-one while playing a round of mini-golf. Paved bike and jogging paths provide a great place for a morning run or afternoon bike ride.

For a truly memorable experience, families can take a tour to see the Corolla Wild Horses. Experienced guides will show you where these horses live, while teaching you about local ecology and history. Some companies provide large vans or buses that are great for taking the whole gang on an off-road adventure.

Those who can’t get enough of the water can spend their time fishing or surfing on the Currituck Outer Banks. Surf fishers cast out past the breakers on the beaches, while charter boats troll the open ocean. The Currituck Sound provides calmer waters that are also great for fishing and crabbing. Those looking to catch a wave can get rent a board or take surf lessons from local surf companies.

Families who enjoy exploring historical sites and local attractions will also find plenty to keep them occupied. At Currituck Heritage Park, visitors can climb to the top of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse Whalehead Club for stunning panoramic views of the coastline, tour the opulent , or learn about local wildlife at the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education. On Thursdays during the summer, the Whalehead Club hosts the concert series on the lawn, where families can bring picnics, blankets, and Frisbees and spend the afternoon listening to live music.

For those wanting a break from outdoor activity, the Currituck Outer Banks offers a modern movie theater and a variety of shops and boutiques. Specialty shops promote unique local items, while larger stores feature national name brands. Everyone is sure to find a special souvenir that catches their eye.

Add in the wide selection of restaurants available to host large family groups and you’ll have no shortage of options when deciding what to do next on the Currituck Outer Banks.
