Currituck Hires New Information Officer
Currituck County welcomes this week its newest member to the Department of Public Information/Travel & Tourism.
Randall W. Edwards joins the county staff on August 30, 2007 as the Information and Communications Officer. As a former reporter for the Daily Advance, Edwards has background knowledge of many important issues facing Currituck.
Edwards covered local government and news in Currituck County for the Daily Advance in 2003-04. Most recently, he was employed by the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County school system.
As the Information and Communications Officer, Edwards will work with Diane Sawyer, Currituck County’s Director of Public Information/Travel & Tourism. Among his duties, Edwards will help coordinate and respond to media requests, publicize county services and events, prepare press releases and serve as county spokesperson when needed.
“We are pleased to gain a person with Randall’s knowledge of Currituck,” Sawyer said. “His reporting experience and talent for writing will be key assets to our department as we continue to improve our public relations and marketing of Currituck County.”
Edwards replaces John Nixon, who accepted a position as Public Information Officer with the City of Burlington, N.C.
