Currituck Outer Banks Fishing

Featuring some of the nation’s best angling waters; the Currituck Outer Banks is a sport fisherman’s paradise. The area features a unique variety of fish, including Striped Bass, Flounder, Red and Black Drum, Marlin, Cobia, Trout, Tuna, Spot, and Croaker. Fishermen of all ages will enjoy wetting a line as they try to hook the big one.

Miles of unspoiled beaches offer hot spots for surf fishing, while charter boat companies make daily off-shore trips in pursuit of big game fish. For a quieter locale, fish the waters of the Currituck Sound from a boat or at one of several sites along the shoreline.

Beginner and advanced fishermen can find equipment to meet all of their fishing needs at any local bait and tackle shop. Staff will be glad to show you how to rig up and what bait to use.

Before heading out, you’ll need to pick up a required fishing license, available at most local bait and tackle shops. All persons 16 and older wishing to fish in any water designated as coastal and joint waters of North Carolina must purchase a Coastal Recreation Fishing License. A license is available for these time periods: 10-days; annual; lifetime; or in combination with a variety of licenses issued by the Wildlife Resources Commission.
