Interested in visiting Knotts Island? Here are a few places to check out.

Knotts Island Market

On Knotts Island, there’s one place where you can literally find anything you need to enjoy a day in Currituck County. The Knotts Island Market is the area’s only full-service grocery store with gas, and when you come inside you’ll find there’s so much more to the place. It’s a favorite stop for locals and visitors passing through either via Pungo in Virginia Beach or the Knotts Island ferry. Seven days a week, all year round, the Knotts Island Market is here to serve you.

Depending on the season, the market closes around 9 or 10PM, but they are typically open early each morning for the breakfast shift. The grocery features a full-service deli where you can pick up some hot biscuit sandwiches, cold milk, and other goodies for a fishing trip. Yes, you can even buy bait there if you don’t have enough! For lunch, there’s fresh, hot pizza slices and sandwiches, and other home-cooked meals you can eat there or take home for dinner. People visiting Martin Vineyards like to stop in for bread and cheese to take along for an afternoon of wine tasting.

Knotts Island Market also serves at your anything and everything store while you stay in Currituck. Movie rentals, office supplies, auto accessories, and of course gas are available during business hours. You could spend an hour or more just looking around.

Knotts Island Market is easy to find on Knotts Island Road – it’s not far from the ferry and a short trip into Virginia Beach without having to take any toll roads. Find something good to eat and something to take home today.

Sandy Point Campground

When you really want to get away from it all and get back to nature, you go camping. On Knotts Island, the Sandy Point Resort Campground offers visitors a quiet setting with primitive and full hook-up sites on the water in a great location. Sandy Point is close to the Knotts Island Ferry, so you can easily access mainland Currituck or stay onsite and take advantage of outdoor recreation and fun.

If you enjoy fishing and crabbing, sailing, and water skiing, Sandy Point makes for a great vacation base while you have fun. The campground welcomes campers with tents and RVs, and even has a few cabins available for rental. If you have a boat, you can launch from the campground and enjoy the day on the water. For food and other provisions, the Knotts Island Market is close by and offers everything you need for campfire cooking.

Rates vary according to the time of year and the type of campsite you reserve. Discounts are available for active duty military, and rates are lower in the off-season. Kids have access to a playground and basketball and volleyball courts, and you can also fish right off the docks! You’re also just five minutes from Mackay Wildlife Refuge if you’re interested in day hiking.

Sandy Point Resort Campground is located at 176 Sandy Point Drive in Knotts Island. It’s less than an hour from mainland Currituck via ferry and a short drive to Virginia Beach.
