VISITOR’S GUIDE WINS STATE AWARD

The Currituck County Travel & Tourism Department was recognized by the North Carolina Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus. They received the top award in the “medium budget” category for the Currituck Outer Banks Visitor’s Guide.
2006 Visitor's Guide Award
The department was presented the award at the association’s annual meeting, held June 8, 2006 in Southern Pines, North Carolina. There were nearly 100 award entries from 20 tourism departments/visitors bureaus across North Carolina. The judges were tourism professionals from all over the country, including advertising agency representatives and marketing specialists.

This is the department’s first visitor’s guide. One hundred thousand copies were printed; as of July 2006 over half of the guides have already been distributed to potential visitors. The guide includes tourism-related businesses from all of Currituck County: beach, mainland, and Knotts Island. It took several months to compile the information and prepare it for
